Dr. Cuevas was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on October 14, 1953.
He attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. From 1971 thru 1976, where he obtained a pre-med degree. He received his doctor of medicine degree as an American graduate from the Universidad central del Caribe, Cayey School of medicine in Puerto Rico, which he attended from 1977 and graduated from in 1981. Dr. Cuevas was the salutatorian of his graduating class as well as the class vice president.
After graduating from med school, he received formal training in internal medicine at the new york infirmary - Beekman downtown hospital in New York City, where he served his internship from 1981 and completed a 3 year residency in 1984, becoming licensed to practice medicine in the state of new york. He joined the medical staff at the New York infirmary - Beekman downtown hospital as an emergency room attending physician from 1984 thru 1985.
Dr. Cuevas moved to Tampa, Florida and became licensed to practice medicine in the state in March of 1985. He started private practice at Ehrlich road thru 1998. He then moved his practice to Town and Country in association with his longtime personal friend Dr. hector l. Rivera (R.I.P), where he maintains private practice at 7926 w. Hillsborough ave.
His medical interest and expertise is internal medicine with an emphasis on preventive care, as well as creating long-term relationships with his patients.
Outside of medicine, his interests and hobbies are listening to music, as well as playing guitar with his classic rock band crystal blue. He also enjoys fishing, cooking, good wine and watching sports, in particular baseball, football and hockey. He is an avid Rays, Bucs and Lightning fan.
Dr. Cuevas is fully bilingual and fluent in Spanish and English.
